Project Summary Report: Techniques and Innovation Development for Teaching English
From the 27th of March to the 10th of April 2022, the English Programme (B.Ed.) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences held a 34-hour intensive training course on Techniques and Innovation Development for Teaching English via MS Teams. The purpose of the training was to prepare the BSRU English-major students (B.Ed.) for the upcoming practicum at school as well as to enhance their techniques in teaching English with technology. The topics of the training were varied, but they are all useful for the 21st-century students of English, such as teaching grammar with Metaverse, teaching vocabulary with Flippity and EWA, teaching pronunciation with Edpuzzle and ELSA, teaching listening skills with TED Education, teaching speaking skills with Quizlet, teaching reading skills with MALLO and Tik Tok, and teaching writing skills with Gamilab. There were approximately 400 students taking part in the training. The result of the training from the questionnaire shows that the overall students’ satisfaction is at a high level (M = 4.07). We would like to thank all the Programme’s lecturers and the guest speakers for their dedication. Also, thank you to all the English-major students for their attention and sacrifice-making in participating in the training.
